| CHARACTER AND BREED TYPE: A combination of the following definitions denoting type, bearing in mind the wild type origin of the breed. | |

HEAD: Long, snout long and straight, face slightly dished, free from jowl. Ears small and pricked.Objection: Floppy ears.Strong objection: Crooked jaw, undershot jaw.Neck: Arched and light with medium length. |

SHOULDERS: Level, wide in proportion to body, blending with the rest of the body. Allowance must be made for shield of aged boars. |

TEATS and TESTICLES: At least 8 sound evenly placed teats to the rear with a minimum of 4 a side for each sex. Dummy teats and inverted nipples to be considered a strong objection. Testicles tucked up and not prominent. |

SKIN, COLOUR and COAT: Coat straight, coarse and long with woolly undercoat in Winter, mane down the back especially in boars. Colour ranging from light sand to deep russet or dark brown, lighter colour on the belly, around ears and inner legs. Colour never solid or with spots of black or white. Juvenile striping present in piglets less than 8 weeks of age. |
